Atletico confirm they want Diego Costa back
President Enrique Cerezo has hinted that Atletico Madrid are interested in bringing back striker Diego Costa from Chelsea.
Atletico have recently been linked with a move for the Blues forward, amid reports that the Spain international is unsettled at Stamford Bridge just 18 months after joining the Premier League side in a £32m deal with Los Colchoneros.
Cerezo initially appeared to distance himself from reports of a move for Costa in an earlier radio interview, but the president quickly changed his tune later on Thursday as he confessed his club would “do our best” to broker a deal for the striker in the summer.
“Diego is a great player, but he belongs to Chelsea," Cerezo said.
“We’ll try to do our best and see what his club say because his arrival won’t depend on us.
“We always we want the best players and Diego Costa is one of them.”
